approaches to the job of copywriters
there are many different approaches copywriters take with their job. for example, one approach that can be taken is to watch a lot of movies so you can come up with a variety of different styles and ideas. another approach is to read, watch and listen to things that you probably would not like and find a reason why someone else might like it. you can also go to a portfolio school after attending college.
what makes a successful advertising copy?
in order to make an advertising copy successful you need to make it engaging, relevant and clearly expressed. you want to engage the audience with your advertising so they develop more of an interest in your product. the copy has to be relevant to the product you are advertising because if it is not relevant then people are going to be confused as to what it is you are selling. finally, you want to clearly express the message in the adverting copy to persuade the audience into buying the product.
TV ADVERTS
IKEA - silence the critics
I personally think this advert was fun and engaging because it utilises rap music to get it's message across on why you may need to buy from the brand IKEA. rap music is very effective because it is a popular genre of music. for this reason I think the copy was effectively written as the lyrics in the rap song they were playing were criticising the state of the house which was in desperate need of some IKEA furniture. the name of the brand IKEA, was mentioned once at the end of the advert. this is so the audience can associate the brand new furniture displayed in the advert with the shop IKEA. this advert made me feel entertained because of the rap music and the CGI animations of the ornaments rapping. I believe the copy enhances the visual elements of this advertisement as there are animated talking toys and ornaments rapping about the messy state of the house. the advert also displays the mess of the house interior and displays how lovely the interior is with the brand new IKEA furniture.
Marmite - end marmite neglect
I personally found this advert rather humorous because they filmed it as if they were filming a documentary and treated the marmite as a pet that had been neglected. I loved the copy in this advert because the narrator made it sound like a documentary which is quite funny. the name of the product is not mentioned in the copy, the product is only seen through visual elements. I felt happy watching this advert because I found it rather humorous. I think the copy enhances the visual element as the narrator is narrating what is happening in the advert.
